The Oyo State Diaspora Office honoured the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Nigeria with an award on Tuesday in Abuja for various interventions on migration activities both within and outside the country over the years.
The award was presented to the IOM Chief of Mission, Mr Frantz Celestin by Mrs Bolanle Sarumi Aliyu, the Senior Special Adviser on Diaspora matters to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state.
She thanked the body for the humanitarian services towards the Nigerian migrants especially the Oyo State indigenes that were rescued back home from various Middle East countries in 2020.
The SSA pledged to continue to relate with the IOM in order to facilitate more developments and discourage irregular migration from Nigeria.
On his part, Frantz appreciated the award as a mark of honour to the United Nations organization.
